telford wines cheshireRodney Densem Wines incorporating Telford Wines is an independent family owned business established in the North West & Midlands for over 40 years.

Initially in the hotel and restaurant business in Cheshire which they successfully sold in 1972, Rodney and Margie Densem began their new venture successfully importing personally selected classical French wines; the company has won several accolades over the years – Independent Specialist of the Year “Off Liscence News”, Best Independent Off Licence Display “Discover the Origin”, Runner Up New Zealand Wine Merchant of the Year “Wines of New Zealand”, Chile Wine Merchant of the Year “Wines of Chile”… The retail shop can be found in the attractive Cheshire medieval market town of Nantwich, whilst the head office and warehouse are now in Crewe, Cheshire.

From these relatively small beginnings, the business has developed into a leading prestigious wine and spirit distributor specialising in the supply of quality products to hotels and restaurants of distinction throughout the North West, the Midlands, North Wales and beyond. Even importing their own exclusive, award winning Extra Virgin Olive Oil – “Eleonas” from their family owned olive grove near Kalamata – Greece.

This year they have continued to update their existing portfolio to bring the best range of over 1,000 eclectic wines from across the globe. In 2013 Telford Wines then moved forward with the purchase of the Bretby Wine Company. Strengthening even further the company’s reputation in Staffordshire and Derbyshire.

In 2013 Rodney Densem Wines announced their new hamper and wine venture, branded as Lords Wines & Hampers, this great addition to the business will deal with all corporate hamper and wine orders, enabling them to differentiate clearly between the on trade sector and their increasing presence in the hampers and wines market. The new business sited at the extensive facility in Crewe, will enjoy the benefit of full integration with the existing wine operation.
The new wine and hamper company will of course have access to an impressive range of wines giving them a genuine edge over their many competitors in the hamper market and giving their customers the reassurance that any gift bought will contain wines selected by people with genuine expertise and experience. Also offering hampers that showcase some of the very best foods from leading independent UK suppliers, people with a genuine passion for the quality and authenticity of their products.
The group has an ‘on-going’ policy of importing wines from throughout the world’s regions direct from the growers or national agents often on an exclusive UK basis, developing trading relationships and ensuring the highest quality and volume for their clients.

The business has seen dramatic changes since its original establishment in 1972 at which time wine interest was limited and the products of Germany, Yugoslavia and Spain often featured alongside the traditional areas of Burgundy and Bordeaux.

The New World ‘Revolution’ over the past 15 years+ and the introduction of labelling by grape varietals such as Chardonnay and Merlot has undoubtedly greatly assisted in the present ‘thirst’ for knowledge and the media has recognised this demand and reacted correspondingly.

The ‘New World’ Sector continues to develop at a great pace and wines from Chile, South Africa, Argentina and Australia are leading the way. However, the more traditional areas in Europe are starting to thrive again as consumers look for something different.

Rodney Densem & Telford Wines remains totally independent, free from any buying groups or national companies. Committed to ensuring premium quality and individuality, as sourcing many of their wines direct from growers throughout the worlds regions.
